Urban Forest Grant

Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association is working with AMLD to consider applying for another round of funding via the City of Austin’s Urban Forest Grant. This is the same grant that provided over $10,000 worth of trees and equipment in Spring 2025. Speaking of that grant, we have about 4 more trees to plant this fall. Look for them along the El Salido walking trail!

Thank you to the generous donors who used our Venmo signs along the trails last fall!

Their donations provided additional funds for trees and supplies like fertilizer and mulch that will keep the trees maintained and healthy for years to come.

Tree Folks will deliver TWO FREE trees to your doorstep!

Tree Folks will deliver TWO FREE 5-gallon trees straight to your door! Click here to order your trees. They require you to order at least one large shade tree.

Fall is the ideal time to plant a tree in CTX. Consider planting a tree(s) in your front yard, especially if you lost trees during the ice storm. Planting a tree strategically can help lower your air conditioning bill by shading your house in the summer. It also increases your home’s value and provides shade and beauty for you, your neighbors, and schoolchildren. Win, win, and win!

If you would rather look at their selection in person and get expert advice, attend a Tree Folks Giveaway. Here is a list of upcoming giveaways. Word to the wise: arrive 30 minutes before the start of the event. You will need to find parking, and a line will have already formed!

The closest giveaways to our neighborhood will be on October 18 at St. John’s Episcopal parking lot, and February 28 at HEB Tech Ridge. Their 5-gallon trees will fit in your car!

Visit the Grow Green Tree Care Guide to learn how to water and protect it. According to Hill Country Water Gardens, a small 5-gallon tree will catch up in size to a 15-gallon tree within 3-5 years. This is because small trees experience less transplant shock and can spend more of their energy growing.

Tax Notice

The Anderson Mill Limited District (AMLD) has received the proposed tax rate from Williamson and Travis Counties, which is expected to generate approximately $59,000 less revenue compared to last year. In response, the AMLD Board is proposing a new tax rate of $0.134340 per $100 valuation for the current year, a rate that is $0.01 higher per $100 for the purpose of maintaining the operations of the district.

State law requires this increase is put to a mandatory tax rate election, where voters will determine whether the new rate is adopted. Anderson Mill residents are invited to attend a  public hearing on the proposed tax rate on September 11 at 6 p.m. at the AMLD Community Center located at 11500 El Salido Parkway. Residents are encouraged to attend this valuable opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and share your input.

City of Austin

Change in Water Restrictions.

After July’s heavy rains, lake levels have risen significantly: Lake Austin is 95.3% full, and Lakes Travis and Buchanan are at 93% combined storage! As of September 2, 2025, Austin Water eased restrictions and returned to Conservation Stage Drought Restrictions.

Residents may now water with hose-end sprinklers or drip irrigation two days per week (even addresses: Thursday/Sunday; odd addresses: Wednesday/Saturday) and with automatic or manual systems one day per week (even: Thursday; odd: Wednesday), only from midnight–10 a.m. or 7 p.m.–midnight.

Although Austin is not currently experiencing significant drought conditions, conservation remains vital for Central Texas and the health of our Highland Lakes—the source of Austin’s water supply. The next drought could occur at any time, which is why Austin Water emphasizes year-round conservation. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of City of Austin Water Rebates to help save water at home:
