October 6th, 2025

Hello Anderson Mill Residents,
Fall is here, and with it comes one of our favorite community traditions, National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7!
This year, nearly 15 block parties will bring neighbors together across Anderson Mill. A big thank you goes to our generous sponsors, HEB and Snarf’s Sandwiches, for providing party supplies and food to make each gathering extra special. We also appreciate the AM Limited District for helping to spread the word and making this community event such a success. And of course, we couldn’t do it without the dedicated volunteers who stepped up to host—thank you for helping build such a strong, connected neighborhood!
AMNA Events
📅 October 7 - National Night Out parties are happening throughout the neighborhood.

📅 October 26 - AM Neighborhood Association Garden Club Meeting: Please note our Garden Club gathering has shifted by one week! We’ll now meet on Sunday, October 26 at 🕛4:00 PM at El Salido Park & Pavilion.
This month, Kindra and Mandy B. are hosting a fun “Repot Your Indoor Plants” extravaganza! Bring along any houseplants that could use a new home, along with pots and soil if you have them.
As always, feel free to bring seeds or plants to share with fellow gardeners. Mandy H. is also looking for donated plants and/or seeds to help brighten up the median near CVS/Majic Mart, so if you have extras, this is a great way to contribute to the neighborhood’s beauty.

📅 November 16 - Garden Tool Sharpening Workshop led by Master Gardeners, 🕛2 - 4 pm at the El Salido Pavilion.
Bring your garden tools and learn how to clean and sharpen them so they are ready for your spring gardening activities. Stay tuned for registration information. There will be some great door prizes to give away to attendees. Free to AMNA members. $10 for non-members (or apply this fee to an annual AMNA membership, $20/year/household!).
Election News
Texas Constitutional Amendment Election is November 4.
★ THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION ★
Written in 1876, the Texas Constitution has been amended over 500 times. That’s because it tightly limits what lawmakers can change directly. To amend it, a proposal must pass both houses of the Legislature by a two-thirds vote and then win approval from Texas voters. Unlike many states, Texas does not allow citizen-led initiatives or referendums — voting on amendments gives you a direct voice in our state government.

Anderson Mill Limited District Town Hall & Tax Rate Election
The Anderson Mill Limited District (AMLD) Board has called an election on 📅November 4th for voters to consider a new property tax rate for 2025. If approved, the average homeowner would see an annual increase of about $44.87.
The proposed rate of $0.13434 per $100 valuation will help cover rising costs in security, legal, utilities, and insurance. Without this increase, the District faces a larger deficit.
To balance the 2025–2026 budget, the District plans to use:
- $110,000 in additional tax revenue (if approved)
- $133,000 in investment income
- $50,000 from expense reductions and increased revenues
Planned capital projects total $159,000, including:
- New administration building roof
- Bridge replacement on El Salido Trail
- Parking lot repairs
- Trail washout repairs
- Park equipment replacement

Tree Folks will deliver TWO FREE trees to your doorstep!

Tree Folks will deliver TWO FREE 5-gallon trees straight to your door! Click here to order your trees. They require you to order at least one large shade tree.
Fall is the ideal time to plant a tree in Central Texas. Consider planting a tree(s) in your front yard, especially if you lost trees during the ice storm. Planting a tree strategically can help lower your air conditioning bill by shading your house in the summer. It also increases your home’s value and provides shade and beauty for you, your neighbors, and schoolchildren. Win, win, and win!
If you would rather look at their selection in person and get expert advice, attend a Tree Folks Giveaway. Here is a list of upcoming giveaways. Word to the wise: arrive 30 minutes before the start of the event. You will need to find parking, and a line will have already formed!
The closest giveaways to our neighborhood will be on October 18 (St. John’s Episcopal parking lot) and February 28 (HEB Tech Ridge). Their 5-gallon trees will fit in your car!
Visit the Grow Green Tree Care Guide to learn how to water and protect it. According to Hill Country Water Gardens, a small 5-gallon tree will catch up in size to a 15-gallon tree within 3-5 years. This is because small trees experience less transplant shock and can spend more of their energy growing.
